How does hiring DATABASE DBA help me in maintaining my infrastructure?
DATABASE DBA helps you in two major ways by offering remote database administration services:
* We help you to offload your database maintenance pains of monitoring your system 24x7.
* We help you to save hiring and overhead costs of system and DBA experts, who have very    expensive on-site rates.

What level of control do I get on my system when I outsource the maintenance work
  to you?
Our clients always maintain complete control of their database. We ensure this control in the following ways:
* We assign a primary database administrator from our offshore center to directly work with you    regarding all database maintenance issues. This ensures complete accountability and single point of    contact for you, and thus a good level of control.
* We work with you and develop a specific service level agreement (SLA). This SLA would detail items    such as our authority levels for specific changes, whom we must notify before and/or after    implementing any changes and so on.
* You would receive 24x7 online access to system performance metrics and technical support. This    allows you to clearly understand the overall health of your operational systems at all times. By    logging into this secure portal, you gain online access to following areas:
* Activity Log - View real-time status reports of your database / web servers.
* Web Ticketing System - Your requests for technical assistance from our system engineers / DBAs,    status of pending tickets, and the response time on tickets.
* Account Information - Update technical and billing contacts, addresses, and phone numbers, and    passwords.

How do you exactly go about fixing a problem after it is identified?

As per the SLA, we would make the required notifications.
* Then, the assigned system expert starts working on the database issues and works out ways to fix    them.
* When it becomes necessary for us to enter your system to implement a system / database change,    we would access those systems through a predefined method that is agreed upon in the SLA.
* After a plan is drawn out, we would start implementing the required functions and fully recover the    operational environment.
* Some of the common modes to gain access to your system are through VPN connections, password    protected web-services, or VNC or SSH.

Database and set-up servers are the heart of our operations. How can I trust and hand it
  over to you?
Security is a major concern when it comes to outsourcing database infrastructure maintenance. We understand your concern and we will take necessary steps to ensure that your information and system is 100% secure and under your control.
Some of the steps that we usually follow to guarantee database security are:
* We sign an NDA before beginning our contract to ensure the customer's IP rights. All our employees    sign a similar NDA with us when they join our company.
* We ensure that only data related to the performance and reliability of the system is transmitted    securely over the Internet. Information from the database is not disturbed during any phase of the    monitoring.
* Our DBA experts do not perform any modifications in the system without customer's prior permission.
* All exchange of passwords and other critical information will be encrypted through PGP, and hence is    safe and secure.

Who is responsible for hardware problems in the system?
Since hardware problems would require physical presence at the server's premises, DATABASE DBA takes no responsibility for hardware issues. Even small tasks like mounting CD, restarting machine, etc, that require a physical presence will have to be arranged by the customer.

Do you provide system / DBA support on-site?
Depending on the needs of each customer, we can provide onsite DBA support at our customer's site or data center. However, our remote DBA team will always assist our onsite team.

In this kind of a remote relationship, what are the activities that need to be performed by
  the customer?
Any activities that require physical access to the machine (like mounting a CD, tape rotation, etc.) will have to be done by the customer. Typically, these are handled by the data center technicians in case the customer has a support contract with the data center for such activities.

Who does DATABASE DBA hire to perform the system /database administration?
DATABASE DBA employs only certified database experts to perform the remote database administration services.

How would DATABASE DBA 's services add value to my organization?
By providing increased system reliability, availability, performance and throughput for your database environment, we ensure that you have no worries about system crashes or losing productive operational time.
Since DATABASE DBA has it's own database experts, you could re-assign your current production staff to more pressing and strategic development projects. This results in a reduced recruiting, hiring and training effort, enhanced employee morale, higher productivity; and significant cost savings.

How does DATABASE DBA monitor and maintain our servers?

DATABASE DBA uses world-class analytical tools developed by our in-house development team.
